ASSIGNMENT FOUR

Task

Living room: This is a living room windows from floor to ceiling with six wings and two opened doors in the middle. Windows are double glassing, woodwork are dark coloured with wooden finish effect. The room is North orientated and the windows looks in the back yard for that no need blackout lining. Need to be contemporary design light and airy with light and natural colours and fabric. The client is a woman who work at home and use part of the room as working place and need more natural light as possible throughout the day. She like natural looking fabrics and colours – nothing too colourful or too heavy.

  • Possible fabric materials: linen, muslin, silk, cotton.
  • Possible fittings and fixtures: decorative curtain track, curtain pole.
  • Possible heading: double pleated, pencil pleated, eyelet.

Kitchen: this is a kitchen three part window with two opened wings. Woodwork is double glassing and dark coloured. The room is East orientated. Need to be contemporary design light and airy with light and natural colours and fabric. Light colours gives expanse to the space and client wants vast looking room. She wants more natural light throughout the windows during the day. Windows dressing need to be same style as kitchen furniture which are contemporary. Kitchen is separated from the living room with big glass door. Need to be a style and colour connection between two spaces windows.

  • Possible fabric materials: acrylic, polyester, mixed with cotton or linen.
  • Possible fittings and fixtures: roller blinds, conservatory blinds, Venetian blinds, roman blinds.

Final solution Living room windows treatment

This solution is perfect for the situation due to the North orientation of the room with no direct sun light. During the day there is enough light, coming from the transparent drapes, and the curtains on the two sides of the wall give feeling of comfort and luxury.

Final solution for Kitchen windows treatment

In that case roman blinds are most suitable. They reminiscent of the way curtains look and bring softness to the room without appearing bulky and also fit perfectly to contemporary style.
